The Hamilton Urban Indigenous Strategy, Battlefield House Museum & Park and the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre are happy to announce the First Annual Spring Equinox Gathering. You are invited to gather to welcome the spring season and give thanks.
Along with the City of Hamilton and the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre, you will have an opportunity to share in recognizing the coming of spring and give thanks for the renewal of the forest on this ancient landscape in the greater Hamilton area.
Five white pine trees were planted in Battlefield Park as part of the ongoing management of the urban forest. The white pine tree is significant because it is representative of the Haudenosaunee Great Peace of Deganawidah and Hiawatha. The white pine is featured as an icon on our most recent public art installation – Eagles Among Us from 2014 by renowned Haudenosaunee artist David General.
