TLDR:
- The York Blvd Locke St N intersection will close north of the York centre median for 5 days (November 28-December 2, 2024)
- There will be no through access for north-south movement.
- Strathcona North residents must enter and exit the neighbourhood via Barton St W at Queen St N, or beyond.
- Motorists coming north from Strathcona 'Central' must turn east or west at York Blvd.
- York Blvd east/west access will remain as is.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained on one side with a clear path.
NOTICE FROM CITY
The City of Hamilton has a contract with Green Infrastructure Partners Inc. (GIP Inc.) to complete works as called for under Contract C15-28-24(HSW). To safely complete road reconstruction, the City of Hamilton will be closing Locke Street North – northerly and southerly – at York Boulevard. East / West movements in the intersection of York Boulevard and Locke Street North will be maintained. This will begin Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. Weather permitting, the intention is to restore all traffic movements in the York Boulevard / Locke Street North intersection on Monday, December 2, 2024.
To accommodate this, the following streets will be impacted:
- Greig Street,
- Oxford Street,
- Ray Street North,
- Magill Street,
- Crooks Street,
- Locke Street North,
- Tecumseh Street,
- Inchbury Street,
- Kinnell Street,
- and Rolphs Gate.
Residents of these streets must access York Boulevard from Barton Street West and Queen Street North or Barton Street West and Bay Street North intersection.
Please note that signs will be posted at Barton Street West and Queen Street North intersection: “LOCAL ACCESS ONLY. NO ACCESS TO YORK BOULEVARD FROM LOCKE STREET NORTH”.
