HART HUB Notice to Residents

August 1, 2025

Dear Resident

Two weeks ago, representatives from the Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre (Urban Core) attended a Kirkendall outdoor event, where they spoke with residents about their new Residential Treatment and Recovery (RTR) program and its location, which they have identified as 276 Aberdeen Avenue. Based on the information we have gathered, this location will be part of Urban Core’s Mental Health and Addictions Treatment (MHAT) Hub, also known as a Homeless and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub.

Aberdeen Resurfacing Update

As many of you are aware, Aberdeen Avenue, from Queen Street South to the CPKC Bridge, and Dundurn Street South (from Aberdeen Avenue to Stanley Avenue) are scheduled for full reconstruction starting in 2027. This work will be conducted in multiple phases over several years and is a once-in-a-century project.

However, the steady deterioration of the asphalt on Aberdeen, from Dundurn to the bridge, has become increasingly problematic for many residents. To address this, the City will resurface this section of road beginning on or about July 7 or directly after the current lane restriction is removed.

The current lane restriction is due to damage to the stormwater main. This damage has proven more complex than usual, and a structural engineer has assessed the situation and provided a recommendation for repairs. The repair work is scheduled to commence on July 1 and is expected to be completed by July 7, barring any weather delays, such as rain, that could interfere with the setting of concrete.

The City of Hamilton has contracted King Paving to complete the resurfacing works as outlined in Contract C15-13-25(M). Construction is scheduled to begin on or about July 7, 2025, with substantial completion expected within 20 days, weather permitting.

The work will involve repairing concrete sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, grinding the roadway, and completing the paving operations. During this time, residents may experience some inconveniences, such as noise, dust, and restricted traffic flow. Every effort will be made to carry out the work efficiently and minimise any disruptions.

For the duration of the project, the City of Hamilton on-site inspector will be available to explain the sequence of work and answer any construction-related inquiries.

Any questions regarding this work can be directed to the City of Hamilton at (905) 546-2489 or via email at [email protected].

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this important work.

Residents notice.
