Dear Ward 1 Residents

I am deeply grateful for your support. Thank you for giving me the privilege of serving as your Councillor for another four years. I will continue to work hard to sustain your trust over the next term of Council. 

On May 25, 2022, Maureen officially submitted her nomination papers to run for a second term as the Ward 1 Councillor.

In May, Councillor Wilson hosted the Hamilton Water team leading the remediation efforts in Chedoke Creek. The project manager presented a brief history of the spill, steps taken to date to correct its impact, and elaborated on the next phase of work, the dredging.

The presentation was followed by Q&A with Ward 1 residents.

The City of Hamilton has a contract with Neptune Security Services Inc. to complete works as called for under Contract C15-64-21 (H). Construction is scheduled to commence on Monday, May 16, 2022, and be substantially completed in approximately 4 weeks, weather permitting.

The work involves the replacement of the existing retaining wall located on the East side of Studholme, approx. 100 m South of Aberdeen Avenue and associated works. During this time, you may experience some inconveniences such as noise, dust, and restricted traffic movement. Every effort will be made to do the work in a timely manner and to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. We ask for your patience during this period.

For the duration of the project, the City of Hamilton on-site inspector will be made available to explain the sequence of work and answer any construction-related questions. Call 905-546-4313 to be redirected to the on-site staff.

Over 90% of Hamiltonians surveyed by the City of Hamilton in 2017/18 agreed or strongly agreed that Hamilton's roads could be safer.

Main and King Streets ranked as the most dangerous streets in the city's annual collision reports for motorists and pedestrians. But, we have normalized these fatalities and injuries.

The most fundamental role of any government is to protect and promote the health and safety of residents. King and Main are neither safe nor healthy in their present form.

On Wednesday, May 11, 2022,  Ward 3 Councillor, Nrinder Nann and I will bring forth a notice of motion to Hamilton City Council for staff to identify actions that will improve safety for all users along Main and King streets, regardless of their mode of transit.
